A Stronger Communities Steering Group was established in June 2007, to take on the following work:
 
  • Development and delivery of the Compact Action Plan
  • Performance management of the two Local Area Agreement Outcomes in the 'stronger' part of the Safer and Stronger Communities Block
  • Driving the wider apsiration of the building of stronger communities in the Borough and assist partnerships to support community cohesion, community engagement and closing the gap in thier activities.

Details of Stronger Communities Funding Allocations

42 proposals totalling over £260,000 were received following promotion of a funding opportunity in December 2007 by the Stronger Communities Steering Group. The funding available was £80,000.
 
The Stronger Communities Steering Group have funded 18 groups to undertake their proposed activities. Click here to see a list of the funding allocations.

£6,000 was made available to the Community Cohesion Advisory Group to add to some work that they were commissioning to bring together people from different backgrounds and encourage speakers of other languages to learn English through non-formal, non-accredited activities.

£5,000 has been ring fenced for work to challenge myths and opinions about refugees and asylum seekers. Dudley Primary Care Trust and the Centre for Equality and Diversity have been invited to discuss ways to utilise this drawing on ideas in their proposals which involved raising awareness of issues faced by asylum seekers and refugees.

Volunteering 2012
 
Established to plan and oversee the work around the volunteering stretch target. A post has been created to lead on this work, and will be hosted at Dudley’s Volunteer Centre. Click here to see a list of current members. Meetings are held monthly and a worker is being employed at Dudley's Volounteer Centre to lead on the work.
