Dosti’s Vision
Dosti’s vision is that Dudley Borough has a voluntary, community and faith sector engaged in the development of stronger communities.
From 2008 this engagement will be delivered through three key strands of work:
1. Preparing and supporting people within communities for engagement. 2. Preparing and supporting public authorities for engaging communities. 3. Ensuring that engagement is empowering for the people who get involved. Dosti in the Dudley Community Partnership
Given its reach of over 1000 organisations, Dosti is uniquely placed to involve the Voluntary, Community and Faith Sector (VCFS) in the work of the Dudley Community Partnership (DCP) in an accountable manner. The skills and knowledge of the Dosti staff, especially in community development and participatory involvement techniques, we feel also uniquely place Dosti to lead on community engagement on behalf of the Dudley Community Partnership.
Dosti hopes to support partners who are required under the new duty to involve (set out in the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act in 2007) to undertake activities to inform, consult, and involve representatives of local persons. It should be noted however, that while we bring together community, voluntary and faith organisations, Dosti does not embrace the full range of third sector organisations, and neither does it intend to.
