Who We Are
Action for Disabled People and Carers currently involves 200 people who are part of forums such as Hear Here (for people with a hearing impairment), Offsight (for people with a visual impairment), and Dudley User Forum (for parents and carers of people with a learning disability). We aim to involve people with disabilities in the consultations that Dudley MBC and Primary Care Trusts undertake.
Geraldine Walker is the Community Care Development Officer responsible for supporting and facilitating ADC and the other forums. Geraldine says "All the members from the forums are very keen to motivated to try to improve services within the Dudley Borough so that people with impairments and carers are not excluded. This means ensuring their needs are considered in the early stages of service development or change - not afterwards when it’s too late. They feel ADC gives them a good opportunity to do this." The forums are always keen to hear from potential new members so if you are keen to have a voice in influencing local authority and health agency policies which affect people with disabilities and carers please get in touch.
