Neighbourhood renewal is a new approach to tackling poverty in those areas of England that are worst affected by it. The government has a National Strategy for Neighbourhood Renewal. This gives a guide to the main problems caused by poverty and outlines targets for each area to meet that will help to solve those problems. The strategy describes why and how local authorities, statutory agencies, the public and private sectors and the community and voluntary sectors need to work together to tackle the main problems and meet national targets.
