The members of the Executive Board are nominated from and elected by Dosti networks. As Board members, they have to make sure that the staff are doing their jobs efficiently. They make overall decisions about what Dosti should be doing and consider applications from networks to join Dosti.

Adrian Lowe.jpgAdrian Lowe joined the Executive as Chair in April 2006. Until recently he was a senior manager in the retail industry. He now works full time as pastor of a large church in Amblecote.


Following this change Adrian has become fully involved in the work of Brierley Hill Community Forum aimed at improving the quality of life for local residents. He has an interest and commitment to community renewal and work with children and young people.

Sue Solly.JPGSusan Solly joined the Executive as Vice Chair from April 2008. Recently retired, she has skills and knowledge around health and safety and measuring performance targets for quality assurance purposes. Susan is also an active member of the Dudley Women’s Forum and has an interest in gender and environmental issues. In addition to her professional background and involvement with one of the networks, she brings strategic experience to the Executive.

Tony Stone joined the Executive in April 2006. He retired two years ago after 40 years serving the church as an ordained minister. He has always been involved in the local community including serving on the Management Committee of the Robin Woods Centre in Stourbridge including two years as its Chair. He is a Governor at Amblecote Primary School and serves on the LEA's Admissions and Exclusions Appeals Panels. Tony is now actively involved in a number of church and community linked projects in Brierley Hill.

Tony began his career as a thespian and uses these skills in his church work. He enjoys travelling and has visited many countries, South Africa being his favourite.

Andy Gray was nominated to the Executive by Dudley Council for Voluntary Service (DCVS). Andy is Chief Officer with Dudley Council for Voluntary Service which is an umbrella organisation and local development agency for voluntary and community groups in the borough, offering services such as information, support, guidance and training.

Andy has worked in the borough for the CVS for over 10 years and has been involved with Dosti from its inception, previously fulfilling the role of responsible body rep on the Executive. Andy has a wide breadth of experience of strategic partnerships and partnership working across all sectors of the community.

Andy is a committed Liverpool FC support and became a proud father in spring 2006.

Simon Biggs.JPGSimon Biggs joined the Executive in 2008. He has a professional background in education and training and was a classroom teacher for 25 years.  He has experience in community work and a keen interest in the principles of community development and empowerment. Steve was previously involved in the Energy, Waste and Pollution Working Group in Dudley and has an interest in environmental issues.  He also brings knowledge of the health sector and practical experience of serving on a range of committees and boards.

Mushtaq Hussain also joined the Executive in April 2006, nominated by Dudley Borough Interfaith Network (DBIN). He has been actively engaged in interfaith activity in the Borough for a number of years and a member of the DBIN committee since its formal creation in 2002. He is also on the Management committeees of Dudley Citizen's Advice Bureau, St Thomas's Network and the Dudley Muslim Association.

In addition to this wide experience of, and commitment to, the community and voluntary sector he served as an elected Councillor for 12 years and works as a Local Government Officer - this gives him a vital understanding of the statutory sector.

Allan Miles was nominated to the Executive by Dudley Federation of Tenants and Residents Associations (DFTRA). Allan chairs a local Tenants and Residents Association where local people have benefited both environmentally and socially from his efforts to bring in external funding and professional guidance.

Allan is Chair of Brierley Hill Housing Panel and is a Director and Chair of DFTRA. He sits on numerous committees within and outside the council, working towards better conditions or improvement for local people. Allan has been involved in Dosti from its beginning.

Before all his volunteering activities, Allan was a heavy goods vehicle driver for 25 years and a pub landlord in Wordsley for 7 years.

Kenneth Rodney is the Director of the Centre for Equality and Diversity. Kenneth joined the organisation when it was Dudley Racial Equality Council in 1999 and transformed it into a strategic body.

Kenneth has over 20 years experience in working in the voluntary sector, including periods with Oldham REC, Wallace Lawler Centre and West Northfield Community Association.  In the past seven years working in Dudley he has contributed to the race equality agenda, an area to which he is fully committed.

Steve Sparrow.JPGSteve Sparrow joined the Executive in 2008. Steve is the Network Development Officer for the Dudley Borough Interfaith Network which he currently coordinates.  He has a background in participatory practise and learning and a strong awareness of cohesion and faith related strategies and activities. He brings practical experience of community development and working strategically with boards.

Joyce Thompson joined the Executive in 2005 having been a network representative to Dosti for the Dudley Women's Forum since 2004. Joyce is a qualified cake designer and teaches creative studies in the community for Stourbridge College. 
She is very active in her local Church in Pensnett and with the Women's Group there. She also has strong links with the African Caribbean community and an interest in faith and gender issues.

Responsible Body Representative
Jayne Emery, a Senior Development Officer for Dudley CVS also attends Dosti Executive meetings in the capacity of Responsible Body Representative. This is to ensure that decisions made by the executive don't contravene the funding agreement.
